Defect Description:

STEERING

Potential Consequences:

1.The vehicle shakes uncontrollably when hitting a bump on the highway at all times. Started with only every now and then. Currently I am unable to drive the vehicle on the highway due to safety concerns. If traveling 50 miles or more, steering wheel shakes and whole car shakes until I slow down. Vehicle is available to inspect and drive to confirm. 2.My safety and that of others is put at risk every time I hit a bump on the highway because I have to step on the brake in order to slow down enough in order to get it to stop. Several times I have had people behind me almost hit me, even when in the slow lane. 3.The vehicle was serviced by the Jeep dealership that I purchased it from I believe 3 times. Each time the problem was not correct even though they claimed they replaced a part. I had an independent mechanic (who we trust: this individual services the police car fleet for the department my husband works for). The repair lasted about a year. The shaking has gotten progressively worse over the last few months and now it always happens when any bump in the road is hit, or over a transition from the road onto an overpass, etc. 4.There are no warnings present.

Potential Consequences:

Traveling in Florida on [XXX] going approximately 65 mph the rear side plastic window on our soft top wrangler blew out without any warning. Other vehicles destroyed it. I luckily was able to pull over in the median to retrieve the damaged window. It was a very dangerous situation. I looked up wrangler forums and saw that many owners had the same problem. After reading the forums and talking to the service department at the dealership they don’t have a fix for the problem. My wife and I are hesitant to take our vehicle on any road over 50 mph. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Potential Consequences:

We purchased our 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4XE/4WD Hybrid in December of 2021. Since our purchase, we've received multiple recall notices which were since resolved. The volume of these recalls has been concerning to us, especially for such an expensive vehicle for which we had an expectation of quality. However, the most recent recall for the High Voltage Battery B9A/NHTSA 23V-787 is a catastrophic problem because we live in an attached townhome community. This exposes us personally to both catastrophic danger AND liability. Secondarily, we paid a hefty premium purchase price for a hybrid vehicle, a function that is lost to us now. We also incurred the considerable expense of installing a charger in our garage, for use with our Jeep Rubicon. We can no longer use this charging station.
