Ford will be asking the owners of certain 2018 trucks and 2017-2018 Mustang vehicles to return to their dealers for a problem affecting the transmission indication.

Recall 18V-214

Vehicles affected: 2018 Expedition & F-150s equipped with 10-speed automatic transmissions (excluding Expedition vehicles with a Rotary Gear Shift Dial on the console) and 2018 F-650 SD & F-750 SD equipped with 6-speed automatic transmissions.

On some of the affected vehicles, a clip that locks the gear shift cable to the transmission may not be fully seated. Over time the clip could dislodge allowing the transmission to be in a gear different than what is indicated.

Recall 18V-213

Vehicles affected: 2018 Expedition, 2017-2018 F-150, 2018 Mustang, 2018 Lincoln Navigator equipped with 10-speed automatic transmissions.

On some of the affected vehicles, the roll pin attaching the park pawl rod guide cup to the transmission case was not installed. The vehicle will eventually lose park function even when the shifter and instrument panel displays “Park”.

Both problems could result in unintended vehicle movement, increasing the risk of injury or a crash.
