Steering Flaws Investigated in GM Saturn Ion

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has opened an investigation into General Motors Saturn Ion after 633 reports of loss of power steering assist. Earlier this year, GM recalled 1.3 million Chevrolet Cobalts and three Pontiac models in North America to fix power steering systems following more than 1,100 consumer complaints about failures. The investigation was prompted by reports of 11 crashes resulting in injuries, and involves over 380,000 Ions built between 2004-2007. According to Alan Adler, a spokesman for GM, the parts under investigation were supplied by the same company that supplied parts that lead to the earlier recall. Continue reading
