Less Unionized Workers In The Auto Industry

united automobile workers unionTowns along the southern part of Auto Alley from Lexington, Kentucky to Montgomery, Alabama have been noticing an influx of foreign automakers. Companies like Honda, Kia, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Toyota, and Volkswagen are bringing their factories there because of the generous state and local incentives, and a workforce famous for not being unionized. One worker in a local Hyundai factory refers to his employment as his “dream job”, and has sent union organizers packing, when approached about becoming a union member. Continue reading
